EARLY risers across southern England woke up on Sunday to a white blanket of snow.
Despite it now being officially British summer time, April snow showers transformed Hampshire and Dorset into a Winter wonderland.
Children in the New Forest took the opportunity to create a snowman and some drivers stopped by the side of the A35 between Ringwood and Bournemouth to slide down snowy banks.
The weather was unseasonal but not without precedent.
Luckily, the snow was too early for most motorists to be on the roads and Dorset Police said there were no major accidents despite the hazardous driving conditions.
Rain was forecast for today but more snow and sleet could be in store for Tuesday.
Temperatures are predicted to rise towards the end of the week.
