PARKING charges have been reinstated at the hospital.

The new automatic number plate recognition system first went live on February 6 but customers experienced difficulties.

Suzy Jennifer was told by a faulty machine that she had been in the car park since 1970, a date before she was even born.

Now, Salisbury District Hospital has relaunched it with instructions and information about when charges apply and how customers are able to pay for them.

The system was reinstated at 6am on June 7, three months after it was disabled due to a mass of complaints.

There are seven 24/7 cash or card pay machines scattered around the hospital and two card-only machines.

The parking charges have not changed. Up to 30 minutes is free and 31 minutes to one hour is £2.

  • Up to two hours - £2.70
  • Up to four hours - £4.50
  • Up to six hours - £6.50
  • Up to 24 hours - £8.00

To receive 30 minutes of free parking customers must visit a pay machine and enter their vehicle registration number upon returning.

If they are advised that no payment is required, the free parking period has been accepted and they are granted a grace period to leave the car park.

Blue badge holders and motorcycles are exempt from car parking charges.

The car park is free for everyone between 10pm and 6am and no change is given from the machines.

If all of the parking machines are broken, customers must pay using the APCOA app.
