Elon Musk has revealed Twitter has put a temporary limit on the number of tweets users can read in a day.
In a tweet this afternoon, the Twitter chairman said unverified accounts would be limited to 600 posts a day.
New verified accounts will be restricted to 300 a day, while verified users will be able to read 6000 posts per day.
To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits:

- Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day
- Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day
- New unverified accounts to 300/day
Mr Musk said the change was to address the "extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation".
Users report rate limit exceeded issues on Twitter
The announcement comes following an afternoon of user complaints with Twitter.
Twitter users reported they keep getting a message that said "rate limit exceeded".
Rate Limit Exceeded means you have used Twitter too much within a set time limit.
Describing what rate limit exceeded means, Twitter said: "In order to control the use of the Twitter API, Twitter sets a limit on how many times it can be used in an hour."
Users this afternoon said they were unable to do tasks including receiving tweets, looking at their timelines and searching profiles.
