LIKE it or not, AI has burst into our lives recently and isn't going away anytime soon.

Artificial Intelligence has many uses, big tech companies use it to save time with the extrapolation of data, while ordinary people are more inclined to use it for entertainment purposes.

I decided to use it for the most important purpose of them all - planning a day out in our wonderful city.

Taking a bit of creative liberty and assuming the identity of a mother of two, I asked Chat GPT the following:

Can you plan a day out for me in Salisbury? I have £50 to spend and will have two children with me.

Here is the response I received:

Certainly! Salisbury is a beautiful city with plenty of attractions and activities to enjoy. Here's a suggested day-out plan for you and your two children, keeping in mind your budget of £50:

Morning:

1. Start your day by visiting Salisbury Cathedral. It's a magnificent medieval structure with the tallest spire in Britain. The entrance fee is £9.50 for adults, and children under 17 enter for free when accompanied by an adult. Explore the cathedral, admire the stunning architecture, and take a stroll in the beautiful surrounding gardens.

2. Afterward, head to the Salisbury Market, located in the Market Square. Here, you can browse through various stalls selling fresh produce, local crafts, and other interesting items. Enjoy the lively atmosphere and perhaps grab some snacks or drinks to keep everyone energized.

Budget spent so far:

Adult entrance fee to Salisbury Cathedral: £9.50

Midday:

3. Find a suitable spot for a picnic in one of Salisbury's parks. Queen Elizabeth Gardens, located along the banks of the River Avon, is a picturesque option. Relax, enjoy your packed lunch, and let the children run around and play.

Budget spent so far:

Adult entrance fee to Salisbury Cathedral: £9.50

Afternoon:

4. Visit the Salisbury Museum, located near the Cathedral. It offers an engaging experience, showcasing the history and archaeology of the local area. The entrance fee is £8.00 for adults, and children under 18 enter for free when accompanied by an adult.

If the weather permits and the children are up for it, take a leisurely walk along the Salisbury Cathedral Close. This area is filled with historic buildings and scenic views, making it a delightful way to explore the city further.

Budget spent so far:

Adult entrance fee to Salisbury Cathedral: £9.50

Adult entrance fee to Salisbury Museum: £8.00

Late Afternoon/Evening:

6. To end the day on a fun note, treat your children to an ice cream or a sweet treat at one of the local ice cream parlors or dessert shops. There are several options to choose from in the city center, and prices usually range from £3 to £5 per person.

Budget spent so far:

Adult entrance fee to Salisbury Cathedral: £9.50

Adult entrance fee to Salisbury Museum: £8.00

Estimated ice cream/dessert expenses: £10.00

Remaining budget: £50 - (£9.50 + £8.00 + £10.00) = £22.50

With the remaining budget, you can consider purchasing souvenirs or small mementoes of your day in Salisbury.

Note: Prices mentioned above are approximate and subject to change. It's always a good idea to check the official websites or contact the attractions beforehand to confirm the current prices and any additional details.

Not the worst day out, let's be honest.

The popular tool, Chat GPT, has come under criticism after students were caught using it to write essays, yet many argue the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

AI is becoming more and more useful as the technology progresses, while I used this tool for a bit of fun, there are, of course, ethical issues.

A recent TikTok trend uses AI to replicate songs in the style of artists who may never get the chance to do so, for example 'Freddie Mercury' singing 'My heart will go on' can be viewed here:

@dj.tempo Freddie Mercury my heart will go on Al #ai #aimusic #freddiemercury #freddie #titanic #celinedion ♬ Beautiful Memories - Lux-Inspira

On the more light-hearted side, you can watch an AI cover of a battle droid from Star Wars singing 'Somewhere only we know' here:

As AI becomes more and more popular, it is uncertain how extreme the technology will become, and what else it will be used for.

It is rather scary to think that AI can almost perfectly replicate someone's voice.
