ONE person was taken to hospital after a crash involving two cars in Mere.

The South Western Ambulance Service was called to the A303 in Mere at 3.16pm on Friday, September 22, following reports of a crash.

Three double-crewed land ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a responding officer were sent to the scene.

One patient was taken to Salisbury District Hospital by land ambulance.

Drivers experienced severe delays while the road was cleared and the scene was made safe.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue sent three fire engines from Mere, Gillingham and Wincanton to the scene, near the B3095 turning.

A spokesperson for the service said: "Two vehicles are involved and casualties have self extricated.  Crews are assisting ambulance crews and working to make vehicles and the scene safe.

"The stop message came through at 4.11pm so no further resources are required."
