SALISBURY resident John Parsons has become the 10,000th client of the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, a charitable organisation aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime amongst elderly or vulnerable people.

Mr Parsons, an elderly person with specific needs, recently experienced a burglary of his home during which cash and groceries were stolen.

He was consequently visited by a Bobby Van Operator, who carried out work to improve security to doors and windows in his home, offered crime reduction advice, completed a fire risk assessment and offered support. This has given Mr Parsons the confidence to remain in his own home and continue living independently.

The Bobby Van Trust relies solely upon donations to meet its running costs. With ongoing support it can continue ensuring that its service reaches the people who need it most.

Clients considered vulnerable or disadvantaged and suitable for a visit by a Bobby operator (regardless of whether victims of crime) can be referred to the Bobby team by emailing bobbyvan@wiltshire.police.co.uk or by telephoning the office on 01225 794652.
