WILTSHIRE Police has responded to a study that revealed Salisbury to be the second worst hotspot for burglary in the county.
As previously reported, an investigation by Personal Injury Claims UK has found that Salisbury is Wiltshire's second worst hotspot for home invasions, accounting for 21 per cent of all break-ins in the county, second only to Swindon which accounts for 29 per cent.
Now, Wiltshire police's detective inspector for burglary has responded to the findings, reassuring readers that "positive steps" have been taken to improve police response to burglary.

Detective inspector Darren Ambrose said: "We have made some really positive steps towards improving our response to residential burglary over the past 12 months. Presently, Wiltshire has the lowest burglary of home crimes per 1,000 population compared to our most similar forces, which should be reassuring news for local residents.
"Back in 2022, following a review by the College of Policing, the National Police Chief’s Council requested all forces attend all home burglaries. We joined the pledge to commit to this and we are now regularly attending 100 per cent of residential burglaries.
"Wiltshire Police recognise just how impactive burglary can be on victims and that is why we are fully committed to targeting prolific offenders, investigating series offences and out-of-force offenders who travel to Wiltshire to commit crime. As a result, we established our own dedicated Burglary Team in July 2023 which has resulted in victim satisfaction for burglary rising by 7.3 per cent points compared to the same period last year, and is now at 85.5 per cent.
"In Wiltshire, 37 Burglary suspects have been charged and remanded by the Burglary Team, since July 2023.
"The chief constable named burglary as one of her three priorities for the Force when she joined a year ago and we will continue to make strides towards transforming the service the public receives from us."
