Salisbury Cathedral School has once again clinched the coveted "Best of the Best Prep School Award for Music" from The Week magazine's Independent Schools Guide.

The prestigious accolade is the school’s second triumph, following victories in 2016 and 2022.  Around 90 per cent of learners there study an instrument and there are numerous musical ensembles to join including choirs, chamber groups, concert ensembles, and orchestras.

Over 25 annual concerts offer pupils numerous opportunities to demonstrate their musical skill and enjoy the spirit of music. This academic year, Salisbury Cathedral School made significant strides in its musical journey by welcoming its first Griffiths Chapel Organ Scholar.

Year 8 pupils have notably made their mark this year, with six being awarded music scholarships to leading senior schools which include Bryanston, Clayesmore, Godolphin, King’s Taunton, Rugby, and Sherborne.

Susie Lamb, Salisbury Cathedral School director of music, said: "We are thrilled to receive the 'Best of the Best Prep School Award for Music' for the third time.

"This recognition reflects the dedication and talent of our students, teachers, and staff who continually strive for musical excellence. Winning this award for the second time, is a testament to the enduring commitment of our school community to inspire and nurture young musicians."
