A PRIMARY school has announced the appointment of a new headteacher. 

Mrs Kate Malcolm has taken the reigns at Winterslow CE Primary School.

Mrs Malcolm has been a teacher and Deputy Headteacher at Winterslow for more than thirteen years and has experience supporting school development in many schools across Wiltshire and Dorset.

Mrs Malcolm said: "Winterslow has held a special place in my heart for many years and I have had the privilege of supporting the journey of many children and families during my time at the school.

"I am delighted to have been appointed as Headteacher at Winterslow and look forward to continuing to help all our children, staff and families 'Explore, Discover, Sparkle-as light of the world". 

Chair of Governors, Mrs Carolyn Port said in a statement: "The governors are excited to have appointed someone as committed, dedicated and enthusiastic as Kate to lead the school community on the next part of our collective journey."

Mrs Haigh, parent to Year One and Year Five children at the school, added: "Mrs Malcolm is amazing and I'm absolutely delighted that my children get to continue to experience such a positive role model". 

Year Five student Sicily said: "I think Mrs Malcolm will be a great Headteacher. She is the best Teacher we have ever wished for. She brings so much creativity to the school; she is kind, fair and always has a smile on her face.”
