DORSET HealthCare NHS Foundation Trust's eating disorder services have been awarded an Eating Disorder National Award' by the national user and carer charity for eating disorders - Beat.
Consultant Nurse and head of the local eating disorder service Ciarán Newell said: "The team are particularly proud of winning this national award as we were nominated by patients and carers.
"That in itself is a great reward and a tremendous boost for the team who work hard to provide high quality services centred on patients and carers."
People with with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and atypical eating disorders are provided with assessment, traetment and advice by the Trust It has a specialist eating disorders service based at St Ann's Hospital in Poole, which provides most of its care and treatment on an outpatient basis and provides support and advice to carers and family members affected by these illnesses.
The awards, now in their sixth year, will be presented in October and are run by beat (the working name for the Eating Disorders Association).
They are designed to celebrate raising awareness, providing inspiration, impact, recovery and innovation in the world of eating disorders.
