Rabbit owners warned to vaccinate

RABBIT owners are being urged to make sure their pets' vaccinations against myxomatosis are up to date after a number of cases of the disease in the Salisbury area.

Sam Cutler from Endell Veterinary Group said she had seen three rabbits with the disease in the last week, which had to be put down.

Signs to look out for are a white discharge from the eyes and swelling of the lips, nose and ears.

Vets say the vaccine should be administered every six months and owners should reduce their rabbit's expose to flying insects which can transmit the virus.
