TV chef Peter Vaughan provided a lively cookery demonstration on October 27, to help raise funds for The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust. Held at Hazeland Mill, near Calne, the event saw guests enjoy an interactive evening on the subject of creative canapés, tasting delicacies such as rillette of avocado and blue cheese with honey.
Almost £1,000 was raised on the night, including an auction for a prize hamper crammed with goodies from The Healthy Life Bistro, Devizes, which Peter Vaughan runs together with his cookery school.
The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust operates three well-equipped transit vans, which travel throughout Wiltshire and Swindon visiting the homes of elderly, vulnerable and disadvantaged people who may be the target of burglary, hate crime or violence from partners or family members. Door and window security is improved, free of charge, to prevent unauthorised access and advice is provided on preventing opportunist theft and dealing with intimidating situations in the home.
The Trust is based at Chippenham Police Station and can be contacted on 01225 794652.
