Vietnam trip raises cash for Marie Curie

A SUPERMARKET manager is swapping the grocery aisles for the lush countryside of Vietnam to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Simon Warren, from Salisbury, is taking part in the Vietnam Community Challenge, which will see him scaling Mount Fanispan - the country's tallest peak - and spending four days helping at an orphanage in the capital Hanoi.

Along with his colleagues at Tesco, Simon, who sets off on the adventure in April, has pledged to raise £7000 this year for Marie Curie.

"I think it’s a great way to bring all my team of staff together to have a great cause to raise money for," he said. "Also, as the money raised will go to support Marie Curie nurses in the local area, it really is a great way of supporting the local community both here and abroad."

The Castle Street branch of Tesco will be holding a collection on November 28 and 29 for Marie Curie, which provides free nursing care for people who are terminally ill with cancer.
