ENTRIES have been flooding in since the photographic competition marking the countdown until the new Wiltshire Council was launched.
Almost 300 entries have come since it was launched on December 22, including snaps of door signs, bus destinations, licence plates, football shirts and even crop circles.
The latest star of the online competition was a Great Bustard called Fergus, taken by David Waters of a Wiltshire-based charity re-introducing the Great Bustard to its Salisbury Plain habitat.
Fergus’ appearance in the competition is particularly appropriate, as the bustard is part of the council’s crest used for ceremonial purposes.
Jane Scott, chairman of the implementation executive for the new council, said: “It is highly appropriate Fergus the Great Bustard has flown in to join our countdown to the new council.
“This competition is proving very popular with Fergus just one of around 300 images people have submitted so far. It’s a great way of helping raise awareness of Wiltshire Council.”
Prizes for the competition are iPods funded by Chippenham company Fleet Support Group. To enter or view entries so far, visit www.wiltshire.gov.uk.
