A VARIETY of activities will be available for young people in the county to enjoy through a two-day taster event starting tomorrow.

Youth centres and young people’s projects will be opening their doors on Friday and Saturday showcasing different activities available in the area.

Events in the south Wiltshire area include a barbecue and sports evening in Mere and a filming workshop in Salisbury.

There is also a chance to try out different sports in a two-hour session at Downton Leisure Centre on Saturday from 10am.

Throughout the two days, Spark Radio, a web-based station hosted by young people, will run 24-hours a day, with DJs covering what’s happening and roving reporters offering feedback from the different activities.

Lionel Grundy, Wiltshire Council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “We are committed to providing a wide range of activities for local young people and these events aim to showcase the fantastic opportunities available throughout Wiltshire.”

Full details of what is happening over the weekend and at youth centres in Wiltshire, can be found on www.sparksite.co.uk.
