THOUSANDS of pounds was raised for the Bobby Van trust through a charity golf day at Salisbury and South Wilts Golf Club on Friday.

More than 170 people took part in the Pro-Am tournament, including top professional golfers Steve Richardson, Gary Emerson and Andy Beal.

The winning professional was John Bevan from the Wessex Golf Centre who scored 66, which was five under par, with Andrew Sherborne in second place, Lee Thompson in third and Dave Hutton in fourth.

The winning team, coming in 18 under par, consisted of Paul Jones, Stuart Ritchie, Tony Oliver and George Millichamp.

“It was a fantastic day,” said course manager Pat Clash. “There were three of the very top players and the course is in fabulous condition.

“All the professionals were saying afterwards that it is the best they have played on this year.”
