New house for Quakers in sight

A NEW meeting house for Salisbury Quakers is finally in sight.
They have signed a contract with builders to refurbish the Meeting House on Wilton road and work is scheduled to be completed by the spring.
The Quakers, who currently meet at Sarum House, bought the derelict Grade II listed building, part of the Old Manor site, in 2003.
Since then they have raised more than £500,000 for its conversion.
The building will be available for use by the wider community.
Catherine Thomas, a member of Salisbury Quaker Meeting, set out on September 20 to cycle 283 miles along the ancient pilgrim route, the Camino de Santiago, in northern Spain, to raise funds for the project.
