A CHARITY campaign to collect analogue hearing aids for distribution in the third world is looking to raise further awareness of the scheme in Salisbury to remind residents of the appeal.
Specsavers hearing centre in Salisbury and the UK based charity Sound Seekers, teamed up earlier this year to collect the hearing aids to improve the lives of children suffering hearing loss overseas, who have little or no access to audiology services.
Charles Munn, hearing aid audiologist at Specsavers in Salisbury, said: “We are keen to raise further awareness of the scheme and why it is so important to encourage more local people to donate.
“Sound Seekers is a charity close to our hearts and provides us with the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people less fortunate than us in the third world. We only hope that by highlighting the campaign local residents will come by and get involved.”
A collection bin for donated hearing aids is now permanently located inside the store at Salisbury. Specsavers is offering every customer donating their old aid to Sound Seekers and trading up to a new digital aid, a free cleaning and maintenance kit.
