King Arthur in nursery visit

NURSERY children had an unusual visitor when Kin Arthur Pendragon and some of his fellow Druids came in to talk to them about Stonehenge.

King Arthur chatted to the children, answering their questions and demonstrated a simple Pagan ceremony around the stones children had constructed from cardboard boxes as part of the project.

He was attended by Druid -Kym, and Andrea a High Priestess, who played drumming music and showed children a slide show of images taken from ceremonies at the ancient monument.

The visit celebrated the completion of the nursery’s Stonehenge Project, and the unveiling of a mural painted by local artist Steve Porter and children, depicting the Wiltshire hills and Stonehenge. The 16ft picture is now displayed in the outside learning area.

Nursery manager Andrea Gray said “It is vital that we start teaching children about the diversity of our cultural backgrounds from the earliest age possible, we hope the visit from King Arthur and his friends will help break down barriers and encourage acceptance and discussion between parents, staff and children, we want everyone in our nursery to feel proud of where they come from.”
