TWO bald and emaciated dogs were dumped outside the Ashley Heath Animal Centre near Ringwood on January 27.

A member of staff found one male and one female lurcher curled up in bushes by the gates in a desperate attempt to stay warm.

Both lurchers are thin and suffering from alopecia, which has left them with little fur, one was so weak when he was found that he could barely stand up.

RSPCA inspector Graham Hammond said: “These poor creatures were in a terrible state and were little more than skeletons covered in irritated skin when they were abandoned.

“It would have taken a prolonged period without adequate food and veterinary attention for these dogs to have got into such a poor state, and then someone tried to shirk their responsibility again by simply dumping them.”

The dogs, named Foxy and Beth by staff, are both still receiving treatment but are gradually gaining weight.

Anyone with information about these dogs is asked to contact the RSPCA cruelty and information line on 0300 1234 999. Calls are treated in confidence.
