A SALISBURY physiotherapist is in training for a four-day cycle ride from London to Paris in a bid to raise £20,000 for Help for Heroes.

Jenny Mears, 49, from Sarum Physiotherapy Centre, will be embarking on the pedalling adventure on May 26 with her friends Lesley Aldridge and Linda Walton.

The women, who have named themselves the Tricycle Trollops, decided to take on the challenge for their “significant birthdays”, as Lesley and Linda are both 50 and Jenny will be 50 this year.

They are all amateur cyclists and have been going out on regular bike rides to prepare for the trip, which will cover more than 300 miles.

"We are really, really excited," said Jenny. "We all get a bit nervous occasionally and think 'oh my goodness', but it is going to be good and as we have got quite a lot of money raised already, we have just got to do it."

The group decided to fundraise separately, as The Galanthus Trust has offered to double anything Jenny raises.

Lesley is aiming to raise £2,000 for Help for Heroes and Linda hopes to get about £2,500 for the brain injury association Headway, as her nephew was shot in the head in 2007 and is still in recovery.
