A TEAM made up of consultants from Salisbury District Hospital and local GPs will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge later this month.
Orthopaedic surgeon David Cox and haematology consultant Jonathan Cullis, who both work at the hospital, along with GPs Rob Hewetson, Fiona Ross-Russell and Chris Gotham will attempt to climb the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike, 978m), Scotland (Ben Nevis, 1,344m) and Wales (Snowdon, 1,085m) in less than 24 hours.
Helping them along the way will be the hospital's orthopaedic co-ordinator, Tracey Johns, who, along with her partner, Brad Sewell, will be driving the team minibus. The team is undertaking this gruelling mission, which will involve steep climbs in the pitch dark, to raise money for a computerised surgical navigation system for the hospital's orthopaedic department, to help patients undergoing joint replacement.
Team member David Cox said: "It's going to be tough but we are all committed to raising as much money as possible for this great cause".
The team, which sets off on June 18, is looking for as many sponsors as possible.
