MARIE Curie Cancer Care is inviting walkers across Wiltshire to make the most of the great British summer evenings by taking part in a series of summer evening 10k walks at Stourhead on August 7.

The walk makes the most of the wonderful Stourhead; ancient woodlands, prehistoric hill forts and fairytale vistas of temples around the lake.

The walk will also include entrance to King Alfred’s tower for fine views before returning along the terrace and woodland walk back to Stourhead.

The Twilight Walk will be lit by flambeaux torches around the lake and there will be musical recitals from a quartet in the Pantheon and a Folk Band in the Courtyard as well as a free ‘Lantern Balloon’ for children.

Local Marie Curie fundraiser Natalie Taylie said: “Last year, Marie Curie Nurses in Wiltshire cared for patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes totally free. We can’t do this without the generous support of those who raise funds for us. By taking part in Walk Ten in 7th August you can help provide Marie Curie nurses. £20 will provide one hour of care.”

Registration is £10 (children go free) but everyone is asked to commit to raise as much as possible; £100 pays for five hours of nursing care, and £180 pays for a full night’s shift in a patient’s home.
