INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after an Italian cyclist died after being hit by a car on the A303 at the weekend.
Carlo Morato, 37, was struck from behind by a silver Mercedes ML280 near Yarnbury Castle just before 3pm.
Mr Morato, who is believed to have been living at a temporary address in Bristol, died at the scene of the accident.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said Interpol is attempting to trace his family and said a post mortem examination will be carried out this week.
He also confirmed the driver of the Mercedes was arrested on suspicious of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
The road was closed for nearly four hours after the collision.
Witnesses are being asked to contact PC Lucy Fair at Wiltshire Police’s serious collision investigation team based in Amesbury on 0845 4087000 extension 724623 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
