THE last thing you expect when you pop into a changing room of a shop is to come back out and find it has closed for the day, leaving you trapped inside.

But this is exactly what happened to Joanne Bolla, 38, when she went shopping in Wilton on Thursday afternoon.

Miss Bolla, who lives in Quidhampton, popped into Kookoon in North Street shortly after 3.30pm went upstairs to the changing room to try on a dress.

When she went back downstairs, she was shocked to discover the shop in darkness with the door locked.

“I came downstairs again and thought ‘my god, there’s nobody here’, then ‘oh my god, the door’s locked’,” she said.

After being trapped in the shop for half an hour, with passers-by and police gathering outside, someone managed to contact the shop owner Sally Mitchell, who returned to open the door.

Mrs Mitchell, said she always checks the changing room before closing, and said she did go upstairs on that day, but didn’t see Miss Bolla.

“I had a lot of people in at one time and she went upstairs to try on a dress and I thought I saw her go back out,” she said.

Police in Wilton confirmed they did attend the scene.
