A FORMER Radio 1 DJ has been fined after being caught speeding on the A303 at Wylye.
DJ Spoony, whose real name is Jonathan Joseph, was caught exceeding the 70mph limit on August 29 last year on the Wylye bypass.
He was due to appear before magistrates at Salisbury on Tuesday after pleading not guilty at an earlier hearing in June, but failed to arrive, instead sending a letter changing his plea to guilty.
Magistrates sentenced him in his absence and ordered him to pay a £250 fine with £165 costs, and endorsed his licence with three penalty points.
Joseph, 40, who lives in Brentwood, worked for Radio 1 for six years and hosted the weekend breakfast show. He left in September 2006 to concentrate on his work at Radio 5 Live.
