WILTSHIRE gardeners who would like to find out more about feeding and caring for wild birds are invited to a Salisbury garden centre this month.
To coincide with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) national Feed the Birds Day, Salisbury Garden Centre on Netherhampton Road in Netherhampton is hosting a Wild Bird Care Fortnight from October 18 until 31.
General Manager Will Howard said: “It’s very important for the general well-being of gardens that we look after the wild birds that visit them. They are essential garden pest and weed seed eaters and are vital for gardeners who would like to grow their own vegetables and fruit with very little input from chemicals.”
Visitors will be offered free tips and advice about feeding and caring for their garden birds throughout the event.
The RSPB supplies a range of bird feeds to Salisbury Garden Centre and 100 per cent of the profits from the sale of these feeds goes directly towards the charity’s conservation work.
