THE funeral of a 12-year-old Bishopdown girl who lost her six-year battle with a brain tumour will take place today.

Lucy Page was diagnosed with a rhabdomyosarcoma tumour – an inoperable mass in her head –when she was six years old.

After being in remission for four years, the tumour began to grow again last year, and Lucy, a pupil at St Edmund’s School, died on September 23.

She asked her family to set up a fund to pay for trips and treats for sick youngsters, and saw her dream come true as the charity was launched the day before she died.

Her funeral will be at Salisbury Crematorium at 12.45pm. Guests have been asked to wear purple on Lucy’s request, and purple balloons will be released after the service.
