A WOMAN from Salisbury was seriously injured when her car left the road and collided with a tree just after 1am on Monday.

The 22-year-old was driving eastbound on the A303 in a Vauxhall Corsa when it left the road shortly before the junction with the A34.

After colliding with a tree by the side of the carriageway, the car came to a rest down a steep embankment.

The woman is currently being treated at Southampton General Hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Two passengers in the car sustained minor injuries and were taken to North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke for treatment.
