POLICE are appealing for information following an assault in Salisbury’s Market Place on November 5.
A 48-year-old man from Downton was walking through the market square from the Poultry Cross towards the bus station when he was approached by a young man who asked him for a light.
He replied that he did not smoke and the man attacked him, hitting him in the face and head until being pulled away.
The victim was left shocked but not seriously injured.
The offender is described as white, about 5ft 11ins, with fair hair, of medium build and wearing dark clothing.
