Second death following A36 crash

THE driver of the Citroen Saxo involved in a head-on collision with a lorry on Southampton Road has died in hospital.

His wife died shortly after the accident on Friday.

Wiltshire Police have now named the couple as Patrick and Monica Lavelle, both 80, from Andover.

The accident happened at 11am on Friday. The couple were taken to Salisbury District Hospital but Mrs Lavelle died from her injuries later that day. Mr Lavelle remained in a critical condition and died just before 1am on Sunday.

An inquest is due to be opened later this week.

Police have repeated their appeal for the driver of a blue Honda Jazz that was travelling towards Southampton around the time of the accident to come forward.
