A YOUNG girl from Bulford and two of her friends climbed Mount Snowdon at the weekend, raising thousands of pounds for forces charity Help for Heroes.

Isabella Smith, seven, her dog Jack and her friends Madison Fetigan, seven, and eight-year-old Victoria Trickett, completed the My Daddy is a Soldier trek to raise money for Help For Heroes and the HomeFront Forces.

Both of Isabella’s parents, Lucy and Stuart, are serving officers based at Bulford and Madison and Victoria’s fathers are currently serving in Afghanistan.

All the items the girls needed for the trek, including coats, hats, scarves, walking boots and bags, were donated by local businesses.

After weeks of planning and training the girls trekked the Llanberis path on Saturday and made it to the summit against the wind, rain and snow.

Mr Smith joined the trek and said he was extremely proud of his daughter.

He said: “I’ve been up there before a couple of times for training and it’s very hard – I’ve seen some of my men struggle, so to see her do it was quite amazing.”

“Isabella has met one of my soldiers who lost both his legs, so she really comprehended why she was doing it.

“Because of the poor visibility I don’t think the girls were aware of quite what they’d achieved but Isabella said she would want to do it again.”

Isabella and her friends have raised £5,000 for Help for Heroes and £1,000 for the HomeFront Forces – a charity which has recently been launched to support forces children.
