Pratchett hits the record books

AUTHOR Terry Pratchett has made it into the record books with his 50th novel.

The Broad Chalke writer released Snuff on October 13 and it sold more than 55,000 copies in the UK in just three days, making it the third fastest selling novel since records began.

Only Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol and Thomas Harris’ Hannibal have sold more copies in their first week.

Larry Finlay, managing director of Transworld Publishers, said: “Pratchett is firmly established as one of the nation’s most important and widely read authors, with so much to say about the world in which we live. I couldn’t be more delighted that with Snuff, Terry now joins a very select band of record-breakers.”

The book, which is the 39th in the Discworld series, has also been shortlisted for the Galaxy National Book Awards in the Popular Fiction Book of the Year category and the winner will be revealed on November 4.
