A FAMILY say they fear for their beloved dog after a horse rider said they had seen a lurcher being bundled into a van by two men yesterday afternoon.

Ozzie the two-year-old lurcher went missing in Burley at 11am on Tuesday. He was muzzled, microchipped and tattooed and has three telephone numbers on discs on his collar. But distraught owners Sally Anne Haynes and her daughter Francesca have not heard from anyone, and a horse rider told them they saw a dog matching Ozzie’s description being put into a grey van near Burbush car park at about 3.30pm by a man aged about 40 in a pale T-shirt and a younger, shorter man in a builder’s hat. The rider said the men had told them they were going to call the numbers on Ozzie’s collar.

Mrs Haynes’ sister Lisa said: “We are beside ourselves, worrying they have taken him to use in dog fights or worse.”

Anyone who knows anything about Ozzie’s disappearance can contact Sally Anne Haynes’ partner Paul Dennis on 07515 392352 or 01425 614216.
