MORE than 100 children stayed home after a winter vomiting bug hit Fordingbridge Infant School last week.
Sixty children were off sick on Thursday after the virus struck and after advice from the NHS many parents kept their children off on Friday, with just 60 of the school’s 167 pupils turning up for classes.
Headteacher Martyn Beales said: “The school experienced a large amount of absence due to sickness on Thursday.
“In line with advice provided by the Health Protection Agency, we advised parents that any affected pupils remain at home for 48 hours after their last episode of sickness.
“Numbers remained low on Friday but returned to near |normal levels on Monday.
“The school would like to thank parents for being so supportive and understanding in this matter.”
