A FOUR bedroom house will be built on land behind a Grade II listed pub after a planning application was approved.
Wiltshire Council’s southern area planning committee granted permission for the new house and the creation of a new access at the Boot Inn in Tisbury’s High Street.
The land is currently used as a stable and paddocks area and a previous application was refused because it was felt it would result in a loss of the open character of the site, which is within a conservation area, and no archaeological field evaluation had been carried out.
An evaluation has now been carried out and there were no objections from the county archaeologist.
There were two letters of objection from members of the public but council officers said the house would be set at a lower level than the surrounding properties and some distance away so there would not be an impact on amenities. The proposed house has also been moved from its central position in the previous application to create a large open area.
The committee approved the plans subject to conditions.
