A CHARITY worker from Salisbury is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Phamie Macdonald, the charity’s head of design, is setting off on March 1 with her walking boots, tent and knitted owl hat.
Miss Macdonald, 39, said: “I work for the charity so it’s something I really believe in and I know where all the money goes. I hear some really amazing, inspiring stories so it just felt like the right thing to do to raise my own money. It’s also a really big personal challenge; I’m not particularly outdoorsy so I really needed to shake myself up a bit and go and do something amazing.”
A fundraising night in aid of the trek is being held at The Chapel Nightclub, Milford Street, on Friday.
The Ministry of Mirth Comedy Night is set to take place from 8.30pm to 10.30pm and tickets cost £7 on the door.
A grand raffle will take place at the end of the night and there will also be a special Help for Heroes cocktail on sale.
