THE atmospheric stone circle of Stonehenge will be the setting for a fiery event in July as part of the London 2012 festival.

Stonehenge has such an important place in the history of south Wiltshire, as it has been a landmark and a symbol of civilization from long before the origins of the city of Salisbury, that it is pertinent that this event is happening in this historic landscape.

Fire Garden at Stonehenge is being presented by Salisbury International Arts Festival for the London 2012 Festival which is a 12-week nationwide celebration running from June through to September.

Created by French outdoor alchemists Compagnie Carabosse, the ancient stones will be transformed into a glowing environment where fire sculptures dance and flaming fire pots animate the stones with cascades of candles lining the pathways.

Taking place over three consecutive evenings from Tuesday, July 10 to Thursday, July 12 from 9pm until midnight (last admission 11.30pm), the event is aimed at audiences of all ages who can enter during those hours at their leisure, spending 30 minutes or an hour or more enjoying the atmospheric glow.

Tickets have now gone on sale for this event and are priced at £3 for adults with under 16s going free but must be ticketed.

Tickets are only available in advance from Ticket South at ticketsouth.co.uk or by calling the ticket line number on 02380 71 1818.
