CITY Stereo are back in Salisbury after their supporting role on tour with McFly and then American rockers, Wheatus, to headline tomorrow night’s gig at the City Hall as part of Salisbury Live.

Organised by PP Promotions (or better known as Professor Penguin) as part of the final major project of second year Wiltshire College popular music and practice students Ian Grinter and Jack Martin, this promises to be an exciting night of music.

Both students are members of Salisbury band I’m Designer, who won’t be playing tomorrow night but who can be seen performing on stage at the festival’s Party in the Close on June 9.

Anne Morris spoke to the lads about tomorrow night’s big event and how they come up with their name: “We came up with loads of awful names so we took a selection away and manipulated the words and came up with Professor Penguin.

Oh, and I have a penguin in my car,” said Ian.

“It has been a lot more hard work than I thought it would be. The difficult part is that there are so many people to contact and to get involved,” he adds.

“It has shown me that I should be a bit nicer to promoters in the future,” said Jack.

“We have been given the venue (City Hall 2) for free and the music should appeal to everybody,” said Ian.

“Sharp Dressed Men do 80s and bluesy covers like Tyrannosaurus Rex, Caught in the Crossfire do light ambient stuff. I call it documentary music. We chose City Stereo because they are a local band and have now got ahead and we thought it would be great to have them back in Salisbury. It’s going to be a great night of music,”

added Jack.

The gig is for ages 14 plus.
