New foodbank collection point

A NEW foodbank collection point is being launched at Shirley Snells Florist, Milford Street, Salisbury. People can make donations of dried and tinned food which will be distributed to people in need by Salisbury charity The Trussell Trust.

“The foodbank is very busy at the moment and we are currently running short of items like long-life fruit juice, tinned green vegetables, and biscuits” said Salisbury foodbank manager Louise Wratten.

“The support of local businesses such as Shirley Snells allows us to reach more people, making them aware of hidden hunger in the local community and encouraging people to help make a difference.”

Does the fact that foodbanks are needed in the 21st century in the UK not worry and concern people?
Yes the jubilee and olympic celebrations are nice (for some) but, if I have any memories of the year 2012 it is the shocking fact that parts of society are in need of food handouts while others are partying.
This fact alone should be enough to stir civilised peoples consciences into saying enough is enough, look how low this country has sunk when this type of rescue is needed and, is ACCEPTED as being needed by society.
Enjoy your olympics and jubilee celebrations, my thoughts and work have different objectives.
