A PROJECT that gives young people the chance to socialise in a safe environment is one of four in Wiltshire to win The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Bluez ‘n’ Zuz, which runs discos for youngsters with the support of Wiltshire Police, was joined by Wilton Riding for the Disabled, The Wilts and Berks Canal Trust and Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis in receiving the accolade.
All four winners will receive a certificate signed by The Queen and an exclusive commemorative crystal, which will be presented by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Sarah Rose Troughton, at a special ceremony.
Mrs Troughton said: “I am delighted these organisations have attained this prestigious award. They all provide exceptional and unique services to the groups of people they support through the dedication and commitment of their superb volunteers. They all make a distinct difference to lives and communities in Wiltshire and the awards are thoroughly deserved.”
Eighteen groups from Wiltshire have now received this annual award since its introduction in 2002.
