WHEN Olivia Brownsey from Rockbourne was born on June 3, 2002, she was presented with a special Golden Jubilee spoon.
Ten years later, Olivia and her gardening club friends have planted a tiny oak tree in the grounds of Western Downland Primary School to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Nine pupils from the school’s gardening club have just come to the end of a busy sowing season, which was topped off with planting the young tree.
Headteacher Kim Wilcox said: “It was a beautiful occasion. The children often pass the magnificent, 700-year-old oak tree that stands close to our school and we hope that this new tree will grow healthily for as long as this one has.”
