THE annual garden party held on June 11 at Sue Bourne’s was a little different this year owing to the monsoon–like weather.

The president, Elizabeth Cutter, with the able help of her committee, decided on the previous evening to hold the meeting at two sites.

Members had our stalls of plants, produce, nearly new clothes, books and bric a brac at Sue Bourne’s house, commencing at 2pm.

When trading ended, visitors and members were invited to move to the Radnor Hall where various indoor games were available. They had fun with Splat the Rat, a gardening quiz, raffle and feel the objects.

Elizabeth notified the groups of events next month and advised everyone to consult their Wiltshire News magazine for county events taking place.

A delicious tea of savouries and cakes had been provided by Margaret Barrow and her team, led by Claire Hendicott.

Tea was followed by the raffle, supervised by Celia Maidment, and small prizes for the games were presented.

Elizabeth then thanked Sue for all her hospitality and effort in the garden and presented her with a hydrangea. Thanks were also given to John Barrow and all those husbands behind the scenes who made this event such a success, and to the committee.

The next meeting is on July 9, when Judi Grant will talk about quilts and the origins of the Quilt Collection at the American Museum.

Members who quilt were asked to bring examples of their work.
