BEING featured on MistaJam’s 1500 seconds of fame BBC Radio 1extra is quite an achievement, but even more so when you are only 15 years old.

Aspiring young DJ Ben Frith, who goes by the name of DJ Future, is a rising star in this field, and is helping to promote an event taking place at The Chapel in Milford Street tonight for young people aged 14 to 21.

So how did all this happen?

“When I was younger I used to listen to Radio 1 at night,” said Ben. “I always knew I wanted to do something with music, so I saved up to get a laptop to do DJ work and it has grown from there. I have played at a festival called LoveBox and I was delighted that the mix I submitted to MistaJam was picked.

“I emailed The Chapel to ask if I could do some work experience. The manager liked what he heard and he said about playing at one of the under 18 nights.”

Ben, who lives in Charlton All Saints, near Salisbury, goes to The Burgate School.

“My parents are really proud of me because I am doing this on my own; promoting myself, getting gigs to get myself noticed. I hope to get signed to an agency to get bigger and more gigs,” he said.
