Love Parks Week event planned

A FAMILY concert is being held in Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Salisbury on July 22 to celebrate Love Parks Week.

The national campaign aims to encourage people to enjoy and take pride in their local parks and green spaces.

The Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion will be providing the music and there will be a range of free activities for all the family and a bouncy castle.

There will also be workshops inspired by the park, where visitors can create a colourful collage of swans and ducks and have a go at making insect finger puppets.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust will also be on hand for visitors to try bird and tree identification.

Polly Mason, parks assistant at Salisbury City Council, said: “This will be a really lovely community event. Queen Elizabeth Gardens is a designated no alcohol area, but we’d love to see people bring along a picnic, family and friends to enjoy a few hours of free entertainment on – fingers crossed – a sunny summer afternoon.”

The Love Parks Week concert is set to take place between 2pm and 4pm and it will be followed by rock and roll from The Sneakers on August 5 and Eighties Fever on August 19.
