Man dies after Charnage Hill crash

A 73-YEAR-OLD man has died following a crash on the A303 at Charnage Hill, near Mere.
The collision, which took place at 3.39pm yesterday, involved a Swiss-registered Honda CRV travelling westbound and a Peugeot 307 travelling eastbound.
As a result of the collision the Peugeot ended up in a field by the road.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 72-year-old woman from the Oswestry area in Shropshire was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital with serious injuries but a passenger, believed to be her husband, died at the scene.
The 50-year-old driver of the Honda was treated for severe bruising and her two daughters, aged 16 and 18, were treated at Salisbury District Hospital for leg and back injuries. Their injuries are not described as life-threatening.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not already made themselves known to contact PC 661 David Williams at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
