PEOPLE have until Sunday to see photographs of Mere School children performing for the Queen during her visit to Salisbury, which are on display at an exhibition at Stourhead.
The photographs, taken by Ash Mills, are part of an exhibition entitled What a Great Day, which runs at First-View Art Gallery from July 14 to 22.
The exhibition shows the children performing for the Queen and Prince Philip when they visited Salisbury Cathedral as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at the beginning of May.
Twenty-five children and three staff from the school took part in the event. The performance was based on the United Nations Little Book of Human Rights, chosen because the cathedral is home to one of only four original copies of the Magna Carta.
Headteacher Catriona Williamson said: “There was no advance practice for the event – the children had to prepare from scratch on the day and then perform in front of royalty. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for them, an amazing feat and they made us very proud. It was a great day indeed.”
