RINGWOOD charity the British Liver Trust has been given a cash boost, thanks to SSE Contracting’s Lighting Services Team.

The 40-strong team, based in Reading, chose to donate the £833 safety award to the trust after they lost former colleague, Debbie Taylor, to liver disease.

Head of operational support at the Reading depot Ian Reynolds said: “The British Liver Trust was chosen because it means something personal to many people within the team.”

Debbie’s partner, Gary Pulman, who remains in close contact with Debbie’s SSE colleagues said: “I offer my sincere thanks to everyone involved in the donation to the British Liver Trust in memory of our beloved Debbie.”

Chief executive of the British Liver trust Andrew Langford said: “The British Liver Trust is delighted to accept the donation made by the SSE Contracting Lighting Services Team in memory of their colleague, Debbie.

“This gift will support the work we are doing to raise awareness of liver health issues, including prevention and early detection, to optimise the care, treatment and support for people affected by a liver condition and to continue to support research into the holistic issues that affect people with liver disease.”
