Concerns about overlooking in Devizes Road

TWO gardens that overlook three neighbouring properties are the subject of a planning appeal.

Wiltshire Council refused to grant retrospective planning permission for the raising of the height of a wall/fence and the use of a piece of land as a garden in Devizes Road because of concerns over the privacy of neighbours.

The council said: “This increase in overlooking is considered to be unreasonable and to cause significant demonstrable harm the residential amenity of the occupiers of the properties.”

But an appeal has been lodged with the applicants proposing to raise the fence by a further 475mm.

A planning inspector will now decide whether to allow the work based on written statements.
