Plans for new townhouses
5:34pm Tuesday 4th September 2012 in News By Corey Ross
PLANS to build three townhouses and a flat behind a listed Georgian building in the city centre are being considered by Wiltshire Council .
Drake Trustees want to build the three three-bedroom townhouses and a one-bedroom flat over the residential car parking at the back of 47 Endless Street, a Grade II listed building which is used as an office block.
The company says the scheme has been designed in a contemporary style and steps down in height closer to the listed building to minimise the impact on the building’s setting. It says the proposal will have very little impact on the existing building, although it does plan to carry out archaeological investigations at the site.
Placing the residential car parking within an open fronted “car barn” and retaining eight spaces for the offices’ use will remove a large car park, which they say will be more in scale with the area.
The public consultation period ends today and a decision is expected by September 25.
